SHANE BOWERS

I am originally from New Zealand where I spent many years competing at the highest levels of rowing. I became a multiple time national champion in both sweep and sculling and represented New Zealand in the U19, U23 and Elite national teams. I competed at World Championships, won a Commonwealth Games silver medal and was part of the Olympic Squad.

In 2005 I relocated to Prague and have been deeply involved in rowing here ever since. Over the past few years I have also worked one to one with adult learners.

Today I am the Head Coach of Slavia Men, one of the top three national rowing teams in the Czech Republic. Coaching this squad has been an incredible experience and it has shown me the power of strong fundamentals, discipline and teamwork.

I am now expanding my coaching beyond competitive rowing to focus on how the sport can improve wellbeing, strengthen mental health and build overall fitness. Rowing is not only about speed and performance, it is also about balance, focus and feeling good in both body and mind.
